Which Struggling Contender Can Turn Their Season Around?

Tickets-prices-unchanged-for-2013-season-MLB-Boston-Red-Sox-News-195549The online sports book experts all had their personal picks as to which MLB teams would emerge as champions this year. But the sports betting fans were seeing something completely different than what the betting experts were seeing. The fans were not as impressed with the offseason trades that Toronto Blue Jays made as the experts were. Now the Jays are struggling and the World Series odds keep changing.

The Toronto Blue Jays are not the only spring training betting favorite who is struggling. There are several teams in both leagues that were expected to be major contenders but, instead, find themselves looking up in the standings. The online betting sites do think that there is hope for at least one of the pre-emptive favorites who is currently struggling.

Toronto Blue Jays

As of right now, the Blue Jays occupy the AL East basement by a wide margin. The biggest mistake the Blue Jays made was trusting a knuckleballer to be their ace. The knuckleball is the most unpredictable pitch in baseball and that is not a good pitch to structure your entire starting rotation around. There is still plenty of hitting power in Toronto and a decent bullpen, but the problems with the Blue Jays’ starting rotation will not be going away any time soon.

Outlook: Miss the playoffs

Los Angeles Angels

The Angels have to be one of the most frustrating teams that MLB fans have seen in a very long time. Despite having a roster jammed with talent, the Angels are struggling to be relevant in the AL West standings. The sportsbook experts are willing to cut the Angels some slack due to the injuries to Albert Pujols, but there should be so much more to this team than just Pujols. Last year, the Angels proved to be a slow-starting team. This year could very well be the same thing, but the outcome this time should be much more favorable for the Angels.

Outlook: Make the playoffs as a wild card

Los Angeles Dodgers

The problem with the Los Angeles Dodgers is that the players begin to believe their own hype and everything falls apart. Slugger Matt Kemp came into this season with high expectations and has failed to live up to them. But Kemp should not feel too bad as none of the key players on the Los Angeles Dodgers have been able to live up to the expectations placed on them. This was supposed to be the runaway winner in the NL West and now it looks like the Dodgers are in huge trouble.

Outlook: Miss the playoffs

 Chicago White Sox

It is hard to decide if the expectations for the White Sox were too high, or if the White Sox are underperforming. There is a lot of talent on this Chicago roster, but it seems to be getting eclipsed by all of the other teams in the AL Central.
