NHL Betting: Blackhawks Favored in Game 2

imagesHockey fans were treated to the fifth-longest game in Stanley Cup finals history when the Chicago Blackhawks outlasted the Boston Bruins in Game 1. The Bruins blew a 3-1 lead in the third period and eventually lost 4-3 in triple-overtime. They’ll need a sharper effort in Game 2 if they are to tie the series.

Boston did a lot of things right in Game 1, such as winning more faceoffs, having fewer giveaways and scoring on the power play. But for them to win the Stanley Cup, they’ll need to bottle up the Blackhawks offense like they did the Pittsburgh Penguins in the previous round.

Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask made 59 saves in Game 1 but allowed four goals. That’s a bit too much considering he gave up just two goals in the entire Eastern Conference final against the Penguins. They need more of that version of Rask because they won’t likely beat the Blackhawks in high-scoring shootouts.

The trends favor the Blackhawks in Game 2 as they are 17-4 this season when playing at home with a total of five or less. They are also 19-5 when scoring four goals or more in their previous game.
