Dez Bryant gave the NFL betting community something to not only talk about over the course of the week, but to consider as well, when he touted himself as just as capable a receiver as Calvin Johnson. This Sunday he and the Dallas Cowboys will get the chance to prove it when they line up against Megatrons’ Detroit Lions.
Calling out the consensus No. 1 receiver in the game, fresh off a record-setting 1,964-yard season in 2012 is one thing; backing it up is something else entirely. Maybe that’s why despite Bryant’s confidence heading into the Week 8 clash, they’re still being hailed as underdogs on the NFL point spread.
With a 3-point advantage Sunday, the Lions will look to bounce back after a narrow loss to the Cincinnati Bengals their last time out. They still have 50/1 odds of winning Super Bowl XLVIII, but stuck in a competitive NFC North division, they can’t afford to lose many more games.
Will the Lions’ D be able to keep Tony Romo and a jacked-up Bryant at bay? It’s hard to imagine that Johnson won’t be particularly motivated to send a message too.
