Kentucky at it Again

Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear is at it again. Not satisfied with trying to merely seize the domains of hundreds of gambling companies because said companies are offering a service he somehow does not approve of (likely because it "competes" with gambling services offered within the state that add revenues to the state's coffers), he is now trying to use an arcane law on the books to recover the gambling losses of Kentucky residents.
The party that is to be sued initially is the company that operates Full Tilt poker, though the suit does name other gambling sites as "Unknown Defendants".
To sue a poker site is asinine. Kentucky residents did not lose their money to the company operating Full Tilt poker (with the exception of the rake), they lost their money to other players. But of course the Governor can't identify the players that beat Kentucky residents, much less sue them. And on that same note, how is it that he thinks he is going to be able to prove, in a court of law, exactly how much Kentucky residents lost gambling online?
Interestingly, Kentucky's Attorney General would not take the case. The state had to hire a private firm, "Hurt, Crosbie & May".
This is a money grab, pure and simple. The state can't stay within it's budget because it is too busy spending (or wasting?) the money of the honest and productive residents of the state on providing ineffective "government services" and of course on paying the salaries of hundreds of redundant government employees that make far more and get far more benefits than those performing similar functions in the private sector -- who are effectively the ones that are paying their salaries. Kentucky is omnivorous and will do anything it can to get money from anywhere it can in order to be able to pay its cronies. Cutting the cronies loose is, of course, not an option. Limiting the freedoms of the productive residents of the state to entertain themselves in the way they see fit within their own homes is deemed preferable.
