The Indiana Pacers managed to make an impact at the start of their Eastern Conference Finals clash with the Miami Heat, but if they’re not careful, that could be all they do. With their NBA odds now as bleak as they’ve been, the Pacers need to show their supporters that they’re not out of the running.
While their victory over the Heat in Game 2 of their series was impressive no less, the fact that they ultimately dropped Game 1 in a nail-biting overtime finish could come back to haunt them. Opportunities to knock off the reigning kings, naturally, don’t come around every day.
With 14/1 odds of winning the NBA championship, there’s no doubt that they’re the underdog in the best-of-seven. The Heat, in contrast, have NBA futures of 1/3.
Simply put, with LeBron James firing on all cylinders, using his sheer size and unprecedented versatility to establish a presence in the post, the Heat are on a one-way road to success. While it seemed as though Indiana may be able to challenge that when the series began, now critics and the NBA betting community alike aren’t so sure.
