If you stop where you are and listen very closely, the Cleveland Indians are in first place in the American League Central Division. Such success has only recently started to translate over to their MLB odds making them one of baseball’s most intriguing betting options this season.
With 22/1 odds of winning the World Series, the Indians are making themselves harder and harder to ignore in a division where playoff threats come and go annually. Having missed out on the postseason in each of the past five seasons, they’re hungry too.
Led by offseason acquisition Mark Reynolds and franchise backstop Carlos Santana, Cleveland has not only put the franchise back above .500 for the first time since 2008, but ahead of the offseason title favorite Detroit Tigers. Yes, it’s a good time to be an Indians fan.
This week Cleveland will get the chance to strut their stuff against another potential American League playoff contender. Watch them on the road in a four-game series against the Boston Red Sox starting Thursday.
They may not get the nationwide appreciation that the Tigers or Red Sox do, but the AL postseason bracket doesn’t discriminate based on popularity.
