2008-09 English Premier League Kicks off at Sportingbet English Premier League Outright Odds

It seems like only yesterday that John Terry was sprawled in agony over the Moscow turf, but the 2008/09 Premier League season is nearly with us.

With just the Carling Cup to show for last season, Avram Grant was quickly shown the Stamford Bridge exit door to make way for World Cup winning boss, Phil Scolari. He brings with him a huge reputation but is unproven in a league of this quality. Can he adapt quickly to the mind games set by Messrs Ferguson and Wenger or will he fall flat on his face and become another high profile casualty of the Chelsea hotseat?

Man Utd were the stars of last season, wrapping up the double with sensational skills and goals galore. Main man, Cristiano Ronaldo’s future has been under the closest scrutiny this summer and with an ankle injury ruling him out of the first two months of the new campaign, this will be a crucial time for Sir Alex Ferguson’s men. He’s not the only superstar at Old Trafford however, and with potential new signings strengthening the Red Devils further, they could be hard to deny.

Arsenal flattered to deceive with their young squad last season and in the end predictably ran out of gas after being clear at the top for the first half of the campaign. Wenger has been reluctant to spend again this summer, and as a result, will be relying on his potential stars to have matured enough during the close season to carry their challenge further in 2008/09.

It doesn’t seem to matter which players Liverpool buy and it’s now 18 years since they won the title. With Torres and Gerrard lining up again, on paper they look strong. Will Rafa Benitez finally find the secret to get some consistency out of his men or will it be the same old story for Kop fans?
